Morella Road /
The design solution to this
steep sloping site with expansive views of the harbour was to stagger a
series of steel and concrete pavilions up the site maximizing views and privacy
from each room.
The roof is paused in mid
flight with its tapered edges of expressed zinc undulating into two curves with
a central customized boxed gutter.
The floor slabs are
expressed and tapered to be of the same language as the roof.
On the ground floor there is
a lap pool welcoming guests reflecting light up the central entry void.
Between the pavilions a
glass access bridge looking down onto a Japanese garden.
The aesthetic is a
metamorphosis of modernism with references to Japanese architecture.
