The building was in need of
refurbishment in terms of its internal configuration and external articulation.
Our key moves were to round
off the corner of the building on the junction of Willoughby Rd and Albany St,
giving the building a facelift by rendering over the existing brickwork and
reglazing the windows. We introduced a third floor housing 2 apartments that
form a light weight timber crowning element to the development.
The Ground floor comprises a
new corner restaurant with outdoor seating as well as cafes/ eateries facing
Albany St. A new disabled access was formed off Albany St with 2 car spaces
servicing the top floor residential units. A new lift core and central access
stairs was added bringing the building up to the current regulation standards.
The first floor consists of
new offices that have been made more spacious with more glazing and greater
amenity.
An additional third floor
was added with 2 x 2 bedroom apartments that are clad in ply wood panelling and
detailed to the proportions of the panel.
